About Medicare Part D Prescription Plans
The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003 brought prescription drug coverage to those on Medicare. Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, also referred to as "Medicare Part D", works separately from Medicare Part A and Part B.

Part D Drug Prescription Plan dates to know:
- November 15, 2008: the first day people with Medicare who are eligible for a prescription drug plan can enroll into or switch a Medicare prescription drug plan.
- December 31, 2008: the last day you can enroll into a Medicare prescription drug plan.
- January 1, 2009: the first day you can use your Medicare prescription drug benefit.
